Our students love us!

Been training at Capoeira Academy for a year now, and under Prof Bombril for another year on top of that.

The group brings an amazing energy, you’re actively and constructively pushed to your limits and beyond them, and our Professors – Bombril and Buiu – are outstanding, with frequent bonus teachers from other groups visiting or leading. .

My journey into Capoeira is very personal. I had recovered from a long term football injury, was struggling to balance work and home lives and I was losing focus on important values.

My first Capoeira class was so amazing, and I have never looked back.

I am as fit as I have ever been, I have restored pride in my own abilities. The confidence gained through Capoeira has helped me socially (the guys and girls are all amazing people!), at home (great for family) and at work.

I have even experienced minor sporting success through Capoeira by travelling to Portugal and winning a European championship, and was able to go to Brazil and win a second place in a world championship..

I have been practicing capoeira around the world for the last 12 years. When I moved to London a few years ago, I started training with Profesor Bombril at Capoeira Academy UK. I received a warm welcome from the team and 2,5 amazing years followed.

Professor Bombril’s dedication, motivation and knowledge helped me up level my game and physical condition. And I had such a great time doing it! On top of that, it’s a lovely community and a great way to meet people. I would totally recommend the class!

Capoeira beginners FAQ’s

I am a complete beginner, which lessons can I attend?

Beginners classes are Thursdays and Fridays 6.30-7.30pm.

How do I pay for a class, monthly pass or special deal?

Single drop-in classes are paid directly to the teacher in cash before the class starts. To pay for monthly passes or special deals, please contact us for the online payment details. Payment must be completed prior to starting the classes and it is advisable to arrive 10 minutes before the class to meet the teachers and get changed.

Do I need to be flexible and fit to try capoeira?

Not particularly. You will gain all the skills, strength, flexibility, balance and co-ordination you need through basic training. Feeling unfit is just another reason to come to class!

What kind of footwear do I need?

We train in bare feet, but if you want to train in any footwear we would recommend light trainers or martial art shoes as they are light weight and don’t have too much grip.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes we do. You can book these as a one-off session or in blocks of ten, for individuals or couples at any time that suits you from Mon-Fri from 7am-4pm. Please talk to Professor ‘Bombril’ about scheduling.Click here to see our pricing plans.

Do you offer any special deals or trials?

Yes we do. These are updated regularly so please click here to access our most recent deals.

What shall I bring to the lesson?

We recommend bringing a water bottle and a towel to class. There are shower facilities and lockers at the gym.

Do I need to book in advance?

We have a spacious studio so it is normally ok to drop-in to a class and pay when you arrive. It is advisable to arrive 10 minutes before the class to meet the teachers and get changed.

Do I need a uniform?

At first you can simply train in comfortable gym gear – no shoes required. If you decide to train with us on a regular basis, you will need to get the official Capoeira Muzenza uniform, as you cannot perform with us or participate in the grading festival without this.

What capoeira styles do you offer?

Capoeira Muzenza teaches the traditions and fundaments of both Capoeira Angola and Regional, Maculele, Samba de roda and other expressions of the capoeira world, which are part of Brazilian culture.

I practise capoeira elsewhere, can I come and train with you?

You are more than welcome to train with us, please bring your uniform and belt if applicable.
